Listen to Simon Geraghty, Leader of Worcestershire County Council, talk about what the County is like as a place, the organisation's key priorities and what he is looking for in our new Chief Executive.
Andrea Borwell-Fox, President of Herefordshire & Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce, talks about what it's like to run a business in Worcestershire and the support provided by the County Council.
Worcestershire County Council supports some of the most vulnerable people in society as well as having responsibility for visible public services like maintaining roads and pavements. We currently oversee around £900 million of public expenditure every year.
Our refreshed plan, Shaping Worcestershire’s Future, sets out our four key priorities for the next five years: Open for Business, Children and Families, the Environment, and Health and Wellbeing.
Being “Open for Business” is the key priority for the Council. It is vital if Worcestershire is going to continue to prosper. A successful and growing local economy will increase the Council income and enable us to invest more in those areas that our residents and businesses tell us are the most important to them.
We are focused on improving outcomes for all children, young people and families in Worcestershire. Our ambition is to see more children and young people achieving their full potential in education and being fully prepared to live happy, healthy, independent and prosperous adult lives.
Our environment is one of the county’s key features, providing easy access to the countryside and a wealth of stunning scenery. Our country parks, open spaces and woodlands provide great walking and cycling opportunities with support our health and wellbeing vision.
This plan is an ambitious vision to improve the county as a place to live, work, visit and invest in. We aim to help people achieve their full potential and live healthy, happy, prosperous and independent lives for as long as possible.
