Non-Executive Directors

£500 per day inclusive of expenses/up to 20 days per annum                                        Worcester

Worcestershire County Council is creating an independent, wholly owned company to take operational responsibility for delivering the full range of Children’s Services including Social Care, Education and Early Help.  The Company will drive a sustainable model of delivery to help create supportive communities where children and young people are safe, secure, supported to achieve and nurtured to become independent adults.  

The Board will oversee direction and performance, working collaboratively with the Company’s Chief Executive and Executive Directors, elected Members, council officers and the Department for Education, to improve the safety and well-being of children and young people across Worcestershire. With the imminent appointment of the Chair, we are seeking 3 Non-Executive Directors offering a blend of the following:

  • Proven experience of driving improvement and achieving successful change, particularly through a Board environment
  • Knowledge of Children’s Services (education and/or social care)
  • Successful background in any of the following: Finance, Legal, Governance, HR, Workforce Development

Previous board experience will be useful as will experience of working within a political or publicly accountable body. Knowledge of our communities in Worcestershire will be an advantage. Most of all, you will have the passion to drive this new company to achieve outstanding results. 

Each Non-Executive Director will be appointed for on an initial fixed term contract basis for two years, with the potential for re-appointment, subject to Board approval at the end of that term.
